What sets science leaders apart in research and industry?

ABOUT WORKSHOP

Strategic Progress-Assessment Through SWOT framework

In this session, participants will learn how to adapt the SWOT framework to reflect on their career development and progress. We will explore how your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats evolve over time — and what this means for your next steps in research and beyond.

Together, we will create a Group Progress-Assessment Profile, allowing every participant to compare their individual trajectory with a collective perspective and identify key areas for growth within the broader research community. Special emphasis will be placed on the Opportunity component, which proved to be the most challenging element in the previous workshop.

SWOT analysis is:

  • A versatile method applicable to personal, academic, and professional contexts for strategic planning.

  • A visual framework that distinguishes internal factors (strengths and weaknesses) from external factors (opportunities and threats).

  • A structured approach for evaluating progress and planning long-term career strategies.

You will leave with valuable fundamentals that will support your journey in the Next-Gen program. Whether you join for the full journey or apply these insights on your own, you’ll have a solid basis to elevate your professional path.
